Course Description

3 belliesPregnancy massage has a positive and profound impact on a woman’s perception of her personal evolution as she moves through the stages of pregnancy and birth.  This 18 hour course is specifically designed for the spa therapist or equivalent and focuses on healthy, normal pregnancy.

Course content includes:

  • Normal anatomical and physiological changes during pregnancy
  • Appropriate client positioning during the stages of pregnancy
  • Indications and contraindications
  • Common pregnancy complaints
  • Safe, effective pregnancy massage techniques
  • Skills and techniques to provide pain management during labour

Pregnancy and birth are arguably the most significant and pivotal experiences in a woman’s life. Participants will leave this course in awe of the magic of pregnancy and birth, and empowered by their new skills to assist a woman through this rite of passage.

PaulaJasper_sm (2)Paula is a Registered Massage Therapist and is a member of the College of Massage Therapists of BC, the Massage Therapy Association of BC, Doulas of North America, and Doula Services Association of BC. Paula received her diploma from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 1996, and has been teaching since 1999. She has focused on teaching manual skills, clinical assessment, pregnancy, labour and pediatric massage. She has been invited to appear as a guest speaker at a variety of conferences about women’s health. Paula also has a private practice in Vancouver.

Cancellation Policy

Tuition is fully refundable until one week prior to the course at which point no refunds will be made. If a student is unable to attend for any reason, payment received will be kept on file as a credit and can be used for any other VSBM program or course within one year.
