Private Career Training Institutions Agency
The Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA) has responsibility under the Private Career Training Act to:
- Provide consumer protection to the students and prospective students of registered institutions;
- Establish standards of quality that must be met by accredited institutions;
- Establish and manage the Student Training Completion Fund.
The Vancouver School of Bodywork and Massage is an accredited institution with the PCTIA.
National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork
NCBTMB Mission: To foster high standards of ethical and professional practice in the delivery of services through a recognized credible credentialing program that assures the competency of practitioners of therapeutic massage and bodywork.
Graduates from the Spa Therapy Program are eligible to write the NCBTMB exam. Having this credential is most beneficial to American students. Please advise administration if you plan to sit the exam.
Natural Health Practitioners of Canada
NHPC’s mission is to develop and advance the art, science and practice of massage therapy in a caring, professional and ethical manner in order to promote the health and welfare of humanity. Its purpose is to promote, advance and provide innovative thinking in the field of massage therapy while facilitating, supporting and serving NHPC members.
The North American Studio Alliance
The North American Studio Alliance (NAMASTA) believes in the following principles:
Openness :
- to any studio, practice, retreat, school, association, academy, owner, manager, teacher, enthusiast;
- to any any mind-body and movement therapy tradition, including yoga, pilates, tai chi, qigong; any bodywork and massage technique, including massage therapy, touch therapy, the Feldenkrais Method, the Alexander Technique, Reiki, Shiatsu, Rolfing and similar approaches;
- to any idea and suggestion on how NAMASTA can serve the wellness community better.
Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals
Serving the massage therapy community through practice support, ethical standards, legislative advocacy, and public education.
Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP) exists to advance the professional interests of its members. It accomplishes this goal through various approaches: helping members sort among career path choices; providing materials and advice to help members maximize their prospects for success in establishing and sustaining a practice; aiding marketing and client communications via Web and print resources; providing affordable, comprehensively tailored professional liability insurance; facilitating access to products, continuing education alternatives, and other business services; advocating for a level, fair regulatory environment; and keeping members informed about major issues and educational developments within the massage, bodywork, and somatic therapies professions.

We do not claim to “represent yoga” in the United States, but do represent our registrants and support all yoga teachers, whether or not registered with our organization.

In achieving this Vision, the Leading Spas of Canada will be a leader in the Spa Industry by:
- Building and sustaining a National Organization that supports its members from all regions of Canada and spa industry sectors through membership services setting mandatory member guidelines for education, standards and practices.

- Increasing the awareness of the enjoyment and benefits of the Canadian Spa and Wellness Experience, in Canada and worldwide, through its marketing programs.
